The Academy was established in April 2011 with the following goals in view:

  • Giving recognition to excellent scholarly achievement in the humanities in Hong Kong,
  • Promoting enhanced appreciation of the value of the humanities,
  • Providing a platform for advocacy on behalf of the humanities to government, funding bodies, business
    and the general public,
  • Providing a point of contact for government and international bodies seeking information about the
    humanities in Hong Kong.
VISION and MISSION

The Hong Kong Academy of Humanities strives to contribute to the advancement of Hong Kong society through collegial exchange in and support of the arts and humanities. As the peak body representing humanities academia in Hong Kong, it aims to promote outstanding scholarly achievements of the territory through
meaningful engagement and cooperation with similar institutions regionally and internationally.

The Hong Kong Academy of Humanities will endeavour to:

  • foster and advance knowledge of the Humanities in Hong Kong
  • support and promote scholarship and research in the Arts and Humanities
  • assist HK humanists in scholarly engagement and collaboration in Asia and other international
    communities
  • act as liaising body with government, business etc in matters concerning the Humanities in HK
